Introduction

MinuteAI is built with privacy at its core. All audio recording, transcription, and AI processing happen entirely on your device. We do not upload your audio or transcripts to external servers. This privacy policy explains what minimal information we may collect and how we handle it.

Information We Collect

MinuteAI is designed to collect minimal information:

  • No Account Required: MinuteAI does not require user accounts for core functionality.
  • Anonymous Analytics: If you opt-in, we may collect anonymous usage statistics via Google Analytics (e.g., app opens, feature usage). This is optional and can be disabled in settings.
  • Purchase Information: Subscription purchases are handled by Apple App Store. We do not collect payment information directly.
  • Support Inquiries: If you contact us via email (support@getminute.app), we receive your email address and message content.

How We Process Data

All core processing happens locally on your device:

  • Audio Recording: Captured using device microphone and stored locally.
  • Transcription: Powered by on-device engines (WhisperKit, FluidAudio, Apple Speech Analyzer) running on Apple Silicon. Optional cloud engine (OpenAI Whisper API) available if user explicitly enables it.
  • AI Enhancement: Summaries, speaker diarization, and content enhancements use MLX Swift models running locally on your Mac or iOS device.
  • No Internet Required: Core features work completely offline.

Chrome Extension

The MinuteAI Chrome Extension records tab audio (e.g., Google Meet, Microsoft Teams) and sends it to:

  • localhost:8085: Your own Mac running MinuteAI desktop app. Audio never leaves your local network.
  • No Cloud Uploads: We do not upload recorded meeting audio to any external server.
  • User Control: Recording requires explicit user action (clicking the record button).

Data Storage

  • Local Storage: All recordings, transcripts, and AI-generated content are stored locally on your device.
  • iCloud Sync (Optional): If enabled, data syncs via Apple's iCloud infrastructure. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
  • User Control: You can delete any recording or transcript at any time from the app.

Third-Party Services

  • Apple App Store: Handles subscriptions and purchases. Subject to Apple's privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics: Optional anonymous usage analytics (if you opt-in). You can disable this in app settings.
  • Chrome Web Store: Distributes our Chrome extension. Subject to Google's privacy policy.

Website Analytics & Google Consent Mode v2

This website (getminute.app and its subdomains) uses Google Analytics 4 with Google Consent Mode v2. Note: this is separate from the optional analytics inside the MinuteAI desktop app described above. The Google tag (gtag.js) loads on every page, but its data collection behavior depends on your consent.

Before You Consent

By default, all four consent categories are set to denied. Google Analytics does not set any analytics or advertising cookies. It does send anonymous, aggregated consent signals (cookieless pings) to Google. These signals contain no personal identifiers.

Consent Categories

When you click Accept on the cookie banner, we update the following consent signals to granted:

  • analytics_storage — analytics cookies for measuring page views, sessions, and user flows
  • ad_storage — advertising cookies (we do not currently run ads)
  • ad_user_data — permits sending user data to Google for ads
  • ad_personalization — permits personalized ads

Withdrawing Consent

You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking Decline on the cookie banner, clearing this site's cookies and local storage, or using the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.

Data Retention

User-level and event-level analytics data is retained for 14 months, then automatically deleted. Aggregated reports are retained indefinitely. See Google's data retention policy.

Notice for Visitors in Japan (日本のユーザーへのお知らせ)

Under Japan's Telecommunications Business Act (電気通信事業法) external transmission rule effective June 2023, we disclose that this website transmits the following information to Google LLC for analytics purposes: truncated IP address, referrer URL, page URL, browser/device information, and (with your consent) a Google Analytics client identifier cookie. You may opt out at any time via the cookie banner.

Children's Privacy

MinuteAI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International Users & Data Protection

MinuteAI is GDPR and CCPA compliant by design:

  • Data Minimization: We collect minimal data, and all sensitive data stays on-device.
  • Right to Erasure: You can delete all data at any time from within the app.
  • No Data Transfers: Since data stays on your device, there are no international data transfers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
